About one and a half years of hard work by CIDCO has launched its smart city project in the presence of top 98 municipal commissioners of the country in Vashi. The function was attended by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and was of national importance as the smart city model prepared by the planning agency can be replicated in other parts of the country, claimed Sanjay Bhatia, managing director and vice chairman of CIDCO. Apart from affordable housing, infrastructures will also be developed for a population up to 25 lakh. Since nodes falling under CIDCO in Navi Mumbai could not be included in the smart city list of central government as CIDCO is a town planning agency and not a municipal body, the agency decided to develop its nodes as smart city in its own.
